I had heard about Suzumushi-dera in Kyoto — a temple where you listen to the monks’ sermon and receive a special charm for love.
I made the journey and listened to the sermon, which was full of warmth and humor. The charm I received afterward stayed with me.
Thanks to the sermon and the charm, I was able to start dating the person I loved. The charm comes with one important rule: once your wish is granted, you must return it to the temple. Mail is acceptable, so I respectfully sent mine back, apologizing in my heart for not delivering it in person.
We later married. I am happier than I ever imagined I could be.
