Shiba Daijingu (芝大神宮) is located near Daimon Station in Minato Ward, Tokyo, and is known affectionately as the “Ise of Tokyo.” The shrine is a branch of the great Ise Jingu and enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, the supreme goddess of the Japanese pantheon.
Founded over 1,000 years ago, the shrine is famous for its signature matchmaking charm — the Senjuro-mamori (a long-lived charm) — and the “Gao-mamori” said to grant beauty. The shrine has a long history of being visited by Edo-era women hoping for good love and good fortune.
Its central location, just minutes from Tokyo Tower and Hamamatsucho Station, makes it an easy stop on a Tokyo itinerary.
