Okuni Shrine (大國神社, Okuni Jinja) is located in Mori Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, and enshrines Okuninushi no Mikoto — the supreme enmusubi deity also enshrined at the great Izumo Taisha. Because of this direct connection, Okuni Shrine is considered one of the most powerful matchmaking shrines in the Tokai region.
The shrine grounds include the famous Munetsuke Wakaba (“Heart-Marking Young Leaf”) — a sacred leaf you carry while pressing it to your chest, said to bring the wish of love to fulfillment. Visitors also leave handmade votive ema with their wishes for love and marriage.
