Yoyogi Hachimangu (代々木八幡宮) is a historic shrine located near Yoyogi-Hachiman Station in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. Founded in 1212, the shrine sits on a small forested hill that has been continuously sacred for over 800 years.

The principal deity is Emperor Ojin (Hachiman), and the shrine has long been a destination for those seeking protection, success, and matchmaking blessings. The grounds also contain Tokyo’s only Jomon-period archaeological site within a working shrine — a 4,000-year-old village remnant that adds a unique layer of antiquity.

The shrine is conveniently located between Yoyogi Park and Shibuya, making it an easy stop on any walking itinerary through this part of Tokyo.
